I’ve had this Descanso Garden Proposal blog written up last week, ready for this week to post. However with the way things have turned around, I wanted to address the pandemic that is quickly spreading our nation. COVID-19 has greatly affected millions of people in so many ways. Other than the illness itself, many people are now without a job, some fearing for their job security when this blows over, and some are facing COVID-19 in the front line as a medical personnel, emergency responders, cashier at your local markets, or as other essential workforce to our communities. I wanted to take this moment to urge you to stay separated from others if you can, try to have minimal contact with those outside of your home to slow the spread. However, if you can please go support your local businesses (with utmost caution of course). Go get that take out meal, go get that boba drink you are craving. Pay ahead for services you know you will need later such has hair styling/cuts, house keeping, tutoring schools, etc. These businesses rely on us to survive this sudden closures.
I myself have had a few cancelled events, and many postponed weddings. Although it does hurt my main photography business, I am so thankful to have few other income (I translate Japanese-English on the side, and also run a small e-commerce shop). And most importantly, I am so thankful to have my husband who is able to work from home during this time. I know not many are fortunate as I am, and I want to say that I am here for you. If you are in need of anything, please feel free to reach out to me at any time. I am also working with few other photographers/couples who no longer can cover the new changed wedding dates. I am offering reduced pricing for these people, as times are incredibly tough for so many of us.

Descanso Garden Proposal
When the creator and artist of Robot Dance Battle, Henry reached out to me for this proposal I was ecstatic! Henry and I had been friends for so many years, from back when I was waitressing at a restaurant during my university days. For those of you who may not know Robot Dance Battle, you MUST go take a look! He draws the most adorable original characters and his shop is loaded with enamel pins, stickers, plushies and even clothing. And of course, he had incorporated his art into his proposal.
The idea was that Henry and his (spoiler alert!) now fianc̩e Bella would get to a certain location at Descanso Japanese Gardens for the big moment. The garden still had a few cherry blossom (sakura trees) still blooming, and we knew it would be the most adorable backdrop. He then posted the instagram story on his Robot Dance Battle account Рand the rest is in the images below.
I truly feel so honored and so humbled, to be able to capture these moments. These are truly a once in a lifetime moment, and it’s just such a wonderful feeling. Enjoy the photos from this Descanso Garden Proposal.
